Nepal Glacial Floods Kill 675, Cross-Border Impact

Floods along the Nepal-Tibet border have killed at least 675 people and left around 2,400 to nearly 3,000 missing, with rescue operations entering a prolonged fourth to fifth day and tolls varying by report. The disaster, triggered by a glacial collapse, unleashed water, mud and debris that devastated towns and damaged hydropower facilities and transportation networks across central Nepal. More than 3,700 people have been rescued, thousands have been evacuated, and security personnel including tens of thousands of troops from Nepal with support from India remain deeply engaged in search-and-relief efforts.
