NATO-Romania Drone Intercept as Strikes Expand
A NATO-led air-policing mission in Romania said an F-18 shot down a drone that breached Romanian airspace, with the drone likely of Russian origin as investigations continue. In Russia, Moscow region authorities reported a major overnight drone barrage from Ukraine, with as many as 201 of roughly 600 drones shot down and casualties including several wounded and at least one death reported in the Ramensky district. Ukraine counterstrikes intensified, claiming long-range hits on Russian facilities including a rocket and space center in Samara and the Savasleyka airbase, while Kyiv reports multiple missiles and dozens of drones downed and ongoing aerial activity. Ukraine and Russia both described damage to civilian and industrial sites, including a Wildberries warehouse near Moscow and a market fire in Kyiv, amid a broader pattern of damage to infrastructure across the region. In southern Russia, several fatalities were reported in Rostov and other areas as drone and missile attacks continued to serialize the conflict, underscoring the escalating cross-border strikes. The international dimension remains tense, with NATO backing Romania’s air-defense posture and Western outlets widely covering the expanding scope and casualties of the fighting.
