Drone and Missile Attacks Escalate in Ukraine-Russia War
A major Ukrainian drone offensive targeted Moscow and other regions, while Russia claimed to have shot down hundreds of Ukrainian drones and reported civilian casualties in several areas. Russia fired long-range missiles into Ukraine, striking Kryvyi Rih and Kyiv and hitting industrial sites such as ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, with Kyiv warning of ballistic missile strikes on the capital. The strikes sparked major fires at multiple facilities, including a Wildberries warehouse in Podolsk south of Moscow, and damaged residential and industrial sites across both countries. Casualties include an elderly man killed in the Moscow region and several civilians in Kryvyi Rih, Sumy, and Rostov, with counts varying by source. Authorities tallied hundreds of drones in the assault, with figures ranging from about 600 to 828 drones, underscoring the scale of the escalation. The events illustrate a renewed, broadening pattern of cross-border drone and missile strikes drawing international attention.
