Hyundai Expands India Hub, 100+ Models by 2030
Hyundai is unveiling a sweeping product offensive of more than 100 global launches and refreshes by 2030, with 58 focused on North America as the company bets that hybrids will dominate its US sales and help offset a slowdown in EV demand. It plans to enter 18 new segments, including a midsize pickup, and will introduce range-extended and electric models such as the Santa Fe EREV built in Alabama, targeting higher total range and broader electrified offerings. The strategy also includes expanding manufacturing capacity and boosting India as a key hub, with 26 products planned for the Indian market and a goal of ramping up local sourcing and capacity to accelerate growth. Hyundai aims for 5.55 million global vehicle sales by 2030 and electrified vehicles to account for about 60% of sales, while signaling a margin target above 9% as it scales across regions. The push comes amid competitive pressure from Toyota, Chinese automakers, and BYD, as the company faces policy and tariff risks in the US and seeks to redefine its business through an emphasis on hybrids, extended-range EVs, and even robotics initiatives. Hyundai’s market moves have also been mirrored by an aggressive expansion in India and other regions, underscoring a broad, region-spanning growth strategy despite mixed investor reactions in the short term.
