ScienceArchaeologists Uncover 1,400-Year-Old Skeleton at Lima Pucllana Ritual Site
Archaeologists unearthed the remains of an adult male near Huaca Pucllana in Lima, likely sacrificed as an offering during the closure of a ceremonial water canal dating to about 650 AD. The discovery provides new insight into Lima culture rituals at a major pre-Inca ceremonial center, which sits amid modern Lima’s Miraflores and San Isidro districts and is part of a region with hundreds of archaeological sites.
