Typhoon Dolphin Makes Landfall in Zhejiang, Triggers Evacuations
Hundreds of thousands in southwestern Japan were ordered to evacuate as Category 1 Typhoon Dolphin, with winds up to 144 kph and gusts to 198 kph, approaches Kyushu and Okinawa, forcing hundreds of flight cancellations and nine Toyota factory suspensions. The storm presses over Kyushu amid a region still reeling from last week's 7.1-magnitude earthquake in Kumamoto, where about 6,700 residents remain in evacuation centers, and heatstroke risks rise with temperatures around 36C.
