The Thai Cave Rescue
From 2018 · a Good News classic
The Wild Boars soccer team was trapped four kilometers inside the flooding Tham Luang cave. Their coach, a former monk, taught the boys meditation to conserve air while 10,000 people — Thai Navy SEALs, volunteer cave divers, farmers who let their fields flood — mounted the rescue. Diver Saman Kunan gave his life. Over three days, each boy was sedated and swum out through the dark. All thirteen survived.
