After losing his right leg to cancer, Terry Fox dipped his artificial leg in the Atlantic and began running a marathon a day toward the Pacific. His Marathon of Hope ended after 143 days and 5,373 kilometers when the cancer returned, but the country he inspired never stopped. Terry Fox Runs now span 60+ countries and have raised more than $850 million for cancer research.
