LeBron James, PGA Tour plans Akron Invitational 2027

LeBron James and the PGA Tour are launching the LeBron James Family Foundation Invitational at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, on July 6-7, 2027, featuring both amateurs and professionals from the Pathway to Progression Pro-Bound Five program. The event will advance the Pro-Bound Five pathway, which grants membership access to the APGA Tour for the top five finishers in the APGA Collegiate Ranking, and will include off-course mentorship linking I Promise students with pro golfers who advanced through the program. Proceeds will benefit the Akron community, and the effort aims to spotlight underrepresented aspiring professional golfers while honoring Firestone’s golf legacy. The partnership emphasizes using sport to create opportunity and transform lives, expanding James’ growing involvement in golf through his foundation and newly launched YouTube channel. Organizers stress a collaborative approach between the I Promise program and PGA Tour initiatives to provide education, mentorship, and competitive opportunities for Akron youth and emerging players.
