Nicholas Winton and the 669 Children

In 1939, Nicholas Winton organized eight trains that carried 669 mostly Jewish children out of Prague to foster families in Britain. He kept it secret for half a century, until his wife found a scrapbook in the attic and the BBC's That's Life invited him to a taping — then asked everyone in the audience who owed him their life to stand. The people seated all around him rose. Their descendants now number in the thousands.
