LPGA Plans Hong Kong Return With $3.4M Purse

The LPGA will return to Hong Kong for the first time since 1976 with the Futu Ladies World Championship, a 78-player event that carries a $3.4 million purse. The tournament will be staged March 4-7 at Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club, as the final stop of the LPGA’s Asian spring swing that also includes events in Singapore and Thailand. Organizers describe the event as a multi-year deal designed to showcase women’s golf in Hong Kong and southern China, with SMK and Moomoo partnering to host the event alongside sponsor Futu. This marks theLPGA’s largest purse for a women’s golf tournament in Asia and cements Hong Kong as a premier market for the tour, according to LPGA Commissioner Craig Kessler.
