FTC Resolves Zillow-Redfin Antitrust Fight
The Federal Trade Commission and several state attorneys general have long-running antitrust litigation against Zillow and Redfin over a rental listings syndication deal, with a final order resolving concerns filed in federal court. Zillow and Redfin contend the partnership expands multifamily listings and competition rather than restricting it. The cases were sparked by a $100 million syndication deal making Zillow the exclusive provider of multifamily rental listings on Redfin and affiliated sites. A trial is scheduled to begin on August 24, 2026, as the FTC argues the deal reduces competition in a concentrated advertising market. Separately, Zillow announced a court-approved order resolving earlier concerns without admitting liability. The parties and states are continuing to defend or challenge the arrangement as it heads to court, highlighting ongoing scrutiny of how real estate tech affects consumers.
