MAS commits S$220m to accelerate fintech innovation
Singapore's MAS announced a S$220 million investment over three years to accelerate fintech innovation under FSTI 4.0, aiming to strengthen the fintech ecosystem with six tracks spanning AI adoption, infrastructure, and talent development. Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong emphasized leveraging frontier technologies and building a pipeline of fintech talent, including co-funded internships to create at least 1,000 placements. The scheme will support the adoption of market-ready AI fintech products via PathFin.ai and back institutions, fintechs, and global partners to deploy frontier tech such as AI, distributed ledger technology, and quantum tech. It also includes infrastructure and platform initiatives to improve efficiency and interoperability, along with a Centre of Excellence to attract global financial institutions. Singapore’s fintech sector already hosts more than 1,800 firms and thousands of jobs, and the funding aims to anchor technology leadership and expand into regional and global markets.
