William Lewis

William Lewis (January 22, 1752 – August 16, 1819) was a United States Attorney for the District of Pennsylvania and a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Pennsylvania. Education and career Born on January 22, 1752, in Edgemont, Province of Pennsylvania, British America, Lewis read law in 1773. He entered private practice in Philadelphia, Province of Pennsylvania (State of Pennsylvania, United States from July 4, 1776) from 1773 to 1787. He was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1787 to 1789. He was the United States Attorney for the District of Pennsylvania from 1789 to 1791. Anti-slavery legislation
