HealthDRC receives 70,000 Ervebo vaccines to bolster frontline Ebola response
The WHO and partners have allocated 70,000 Ervebo Ebola vaccine doses to the Democratic Republic of Congo to bolster the response to the Bundibugyo-driven outbreak, with 50,000 earmarked for frontline health workers and 20,000 for a late-stage trial to determine cross-protection against Bundibugyo. The deployment occurs amid the fastest, deadliest Ebola surge in the country’s history, and while Ervebo is approved for Zaire ebolavirus, its effectiveness against Bundibugyo remains under study.
