Demographics
At the September 2012 Education Review Office (ERO) review, Tawa College had 1417 students enrolled, including nine international students. Forty-six percent of students were male and 54 percent were female. Fifty-seven percent of students identified as European New Zealanders (Pākehā), 16 percent identified as Māori, 14 percent as Asian, 12 percent as Pasifika, and one percent as another ethnicity.
