Shark Lake

Shark Lake is a freshwater lake in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia approximately north of Esperance. The lake is situated within the Shark Lake Nature Reserve, which occupies an area of and is one of the few permanent freshwater lakes and wetlands on the south coast. The lakes are predominantly fed by natural drainage from the agricultural areas to the north. Increased runoff and rising water tables from agricultural clearing have a large impact on the water quality of the lake. Shark Lake Nature Reserve was gazetted as an A class reserve in 1972 for the purpose of conservation of flora and fauna.
