Reinhard Dieter Grindel (born 19 September 1961) is a German journalist, politician (CDU) and football administrator. From 2002 to 2016 Grindel was member of the Bundestag (Lower Chamber of the German Parliament). On 15 April 2016, he was elected president of the German Football Association (DFB) and resigned as member of parliament. On 2 April 2019, he resigned as president of the association. Life Early years and journalism Grindel was born in Hamburg where he also went to school and studied law after obtaining a grant from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
