The Warenne family is an English noble family founded by William de Warenne, who was created Earl of Surrey by William II Rufus in 1088. When the senior male-line ended in the mid-12th century, the two branches descended from their heiress adopted the Warenne surname. Several junior lines also held land or prominent offices in England and Normandy.
