The Silesian Piasts were the oldest branch of the royal Piast dynasty of the Kingdom of Poland. They ruled various decentralized duchies in Silesia from 1138 until the extinction of their male line in 1675. Founded by Władysław II the Exile, the family quickly fractured into several independent regional lines, governing territories such as the duchies of Wrocław, Opole, Głogów, and Legnica.
