DOJ Restores Gun Rights Process Under Pardon Office
The Justice Department, led by Attorney General Todd Blanche, finalized a regulation reviving a federal pathway for eligible individuals who lost gun rights to apply for restoration, requiring applicants to prove the circumstances of their prohibition as well as their record, reputation, and conduct, with strong presumptions against high-risk cases. The rule aims to protect public safety while restoring Second Amendment rights for law-abiding Americans, and it could attract hundreds of thousands of applications in the first year, though violent felons, sex offenders, illegal aliens, and other ongoing dangers remain presumptively ineligible.
