Overview
The Libertarian Party (, abbr. PL) is an Argentine political party which promotes elements of social ultraconservatism and economic ultraliberalism, libertarianism and minarchism. The party is currently led by Javier Milei, who is a candidate in the 2023 Argentine general election and placed first in the argentine primary election with 29.86% of the vote. The party is also a founding member of the coalition La Libertad Avanza, which is also led by Milei.
In an interview with right-wing political commentator Tucker Carlson in September 2023, Milei attributed the decline and collapse of the Argentine economy to "100 years of socialism" and likened the process to a frog in boiling water, with the economy worsening by degrees each year to reach the bankrupt and financially unsustainable state it has been in for many years.
The party does not have legal status as a national-level party; however, it is recognized in seven provinces and the autonomous city of Buenos Aires.
