WorldHanwha wins US Army K9 prototype contract
Hanwha Defense USA has won the U.S. Army’s Mobile Tactical Cannon prototype program, to deliver up to 18 K9-based wheeled self-propelled howitzers with an initial six prototypes and an option for 12 more, potentially worth around $233–$263 million. The deal marks a historic step as a finished South Korean weapons system is exported to the U.S., with production facilities being localized in Alabama and a possible follow-on mass-production contract worth up to 10 trillion won.
