"Greedy" is a song by Canadian singer Tate McRae. It was released on September 15, 2023, through RCA Records. The song first gained traction on the video-sharing platform TikTok when a snippet was shared by McRae on August 1, 2023. The song peaked at number one in Austria, Denmark, Greece, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Norway, while entering the top ten in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, New Zealand, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, among others. It is also McRae's highest charting song on the US Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 14. Background and composition In December 2022, McRae first talked about her new "era" of music, saying that she was "in the zone" for the music and determined on who she wants to be and what to do next. "Greedy" signifies a "new chapter" of music to McRae. It reflects on an encounter she had with a guy at a bar, who expressed that he found her mysterious. Upon reflection, McRae agreed with his impression, noting that it "takes a lot" for her to open up. She subsequently wrote "Greedy" about the "feeling of having utter confidence".
