BSP DOJ Information-Sharing Pact Accelerates Scam Investigations

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and the Department of Justice signed an information-sharing pact to enable the DOJ to request and receive financial account information for investigations into financial account scams under AFASA, aimed at speeding up prosecutions while safeguarding data use. The agreement aligns the DOJ’s prosecutorial powers with BSP’s regulatory authority and includes safeguards to ensure information is used only for authorized purposes, enabling quicker action against online scams.
