The Democratic League of Kosovo is a centre-right political party in Kosovo. Founded on 23 December 1989 by Ibrahim Rugova and other Kosovar Albanian intellectuals, it is the oldest major party in Kosovo and one of the principal parties of the post-Yugoslav and post-independence political system. It began as a broad civic and national movement opposing the revocation of Kosovo's autonomy under Slobodan Milošević and became the leading organization of the 1990s Kosovar Albanian non-violent resistance, building parallel political, educational and health institutions while advocating independence by peaceful means.
