Sporting KC signs Andre Luiz in record deal

Sporting Kansas City has signed Brazilian forward Andre Luiz from Olympiacos on a club-record five-year Designated Player contract, with initial reports citing an $18 million fee plus add-ons and the move pending visa and International Transfer Certificate. The 24-year-old, who previously starred for Rio Ave and Flamengo before a stint in Greece, joins a rebuilding Sporting KC squad under owner Peter Mallouk and manager Raphael Wicky as their fifth Designated Player since 2018.
