Devon father jailed for life over baby's death
Tony Bartlett, 39, of Axminster, Devon, has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 18 years for murdering his four-week-old son Atticus in Chard, Somerset, after a night out drinking; prosecutors said his intoxication and anger caused a violent shake that led to fatal brain and spinal injuries. The case, heard at Bristol Crown Court, also highlighted details of the evening out and the baby’s injuries, with Ballentyne, Atticus’s mother, not charged in connection with the death.
