Catholic People's Party

The Catholic People's Party was the name of two Conservative parties active concurrently in the two components of the Austria-Hungary Dual Monarchy. Austrian Party The Austrian Catholic People's Party was formed in 1895, following a split in the Conservative Hohenwart-Klub . Its leaders were Alfred Ebenhoch and Josef von Dipauli. Membership in the party, representing Ultramontane and Conservative positions, was not limited to one nationality. The Catholic People's Party brought together Germans, Poles and Czechs, united by their Catholic faith and the political conclusions drawn from it, in the Elections of 1897. In the Reichsrat elections of 1901 it lost 4 out of 27 seats.
