Burquí

Burquí is a small, uninhabited coral reef island measuring approximately 0.8 hectares in total land mass. Geographically located in the Lesser Antilles, this key belongs to Venezuela and is fully integrated into the stunning Los Roques Archipelago in the central Caribbean Sea. From a political and administrative standpoint, the territory falls under the strict jurisdiction of the Federal Dependencies of Venezuela and is managed as an integral part of the Los Roques Archipelago National Park. Despite its extremely limited territorial surface area, the key holds substantial ecological relevance within the larger insular complex, being well-documented in both the historical official cartography of the South American nation and in numerous scientific registries of marine and avian biodiversity since the mid-20th century.
