Bhumika Chawla

Bhumika Chawla (born Rachna Chawla; 21 August 1978) is an Indian actress who primarily works in Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil films. Chawla made her acting debut with the Telugu film Yuvakudu (2000) and received success with Kushi (2001), for which she received Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Telugu. Chawla went on to make her Tamil debut with Badri (2001), after which she starred in the commercially successful Roja Kootam (2002). Chawla established herself as a leading actress in Telugu cinema with successful films such as Kushi (2001), Vasu (2002), Okkadu (2003), Missamma (2003), for which she won Nandi Award for Best Actress, Simhadri (2003), Naa Autograph (2004), Sathyabhama (2007) and Anasuya (2007). For Sathyabhana and Anasuya, she received Filmfare Best Actress – Telugu nominations. Following this she mainly played supporting parts as in Middle Class Abbayi (2017), U Turn (2018), Idhe Maa Katha (2021) and Sita Ramam (2022). Chawla ventured into Hindi cinema with Tere Naam (2003), receiving Filmfare Award for Best Actress nomination. She would appear in many unsuccessful films; but Gandhi, My Father (2007) and M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016), were successful. The Tamil films Sillunu Oru Kaadhal (2006), Kalavaadiya Pozhuthugal (2017), Kannai Nambathey (2023), and the Kannada film Luv U Alia, earned her praises. In 2023, she appeared in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. Early life Chawla was born 21 August 1978 in a Punjabi family in New Delhi, India and completed her schooling there. Her father is a retired Army officer. Bhumika has two siblings, an elder brother and sister.
