The Battle for Zangezur was a military conflict fought between April 26 and July 16, 1921 for control of the strategic and rugged region of Zangezur (Syunik). The war was waged between Armenian national forces, initially part of the First Republic of Armenia and later organized as the Republic of Mountainous Armenia, and the Soviet Red Army.
