Arevik

Arevik (; formerly, Agdzharkh and Aghja-Arkh) is a town in the Armavir province of Armenia. The name Arevik comes from the root Arev meaning "sun". History Arevik was settled in the 18th century by over 10,000 Roman Catholics, who were forced into exile from Constantinople by the Ottoman Empire. During the Soviet period, the village was changed to Arevik as its current name. Today Arevik is a Catholic village. According to National Statistics, the vast majority of its residents are Catholic descent, representing less than one percent of the village's population and are not part of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
