The Regime is an upcoming miniseries from HBO starring Kate Winslet, Andrea Riseborough, Matthias Schoenaerts and Hugh Grant. Will Tracy is writer, executive producer and showrunner on the series with Stephen Frears and Jessica Hobbs directing episodes and executive producing. Kate Winslet, Frank Rich and Tracey Seaward are also executive producers. Synopsis The series depicts a year within the palace of a crumbling authoritarian regime. Cast Kate Winslet as the Chancellor of a fictional Central European autocracy, who finds her position threatened by domestic turmoil. Matthias Schoenaerts Guillaume Gallienne as the Chancellor's husband Andrea Riseborough as the Palace Manager, the Chancellor's right-hand woman and chief minister Martha Plimpton as the U.S. Secretary of State, who seeks to protect American interests in the country. Hugh Grant as the Leader of the Opposition, whose imprisonment triggers large-scale public protests.
