Arizona designated closer Paul Sewald for assignment after a sharp downturn that prompted a closer-by-committee approach, with his 6.23 ERA in recent outings and blown saves ending his run as closer. Brandyn Garcia has taken the saves as Sewald moves toward potential waiver or another destination.
