On December 14, 2022, it was reported that Universal Pictures and Working Title had set Melissa McCarthy to star in an untitled New York Christmas movie written by Richard Curtis and directed by Sam Boyd. On January 26, 2023, Paapa Essiedu joined to star opposite McCarthy.
