Tinubu expands Nigerian Army to 12 divisions
President Bola Tinubu has approved expanding the Nigerian Army from eight to 12 divisions, as part of a broader package that includes recruiting 28,000 more personnel and procuring key equipment to strengthen security and modernize forces. The rollout will create four new divisions in Makurdi, Ilorin, Jalingo and Benin City, and aims to improve command and control, decentralize decision-making, bolster border security and national infrastructure protection, with implementation in two phases.
