Lloyd D. George

Lloyd Dee George (February 22, 1930 – October 7, 2020) was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Nevada and the namesake of the Lloyd D. George Federal Courthouse in Las Vegas, Nevada. Education and career Born in Montpelier, Idaho, George was raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, and was the class president of the 1948 class of Las Vegas High School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University in 1955. After graduation, and upon completing the requirements of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force and served from 1955 to 1958. In the Air Force, he flew Boeing B-47 Stratojet long-range bombers and became a captain. After serving in the Air Force, he received a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law in 1961. He was in private practice in Las Vegas from 1961 to 1974, and was also a justice of the peace for Clark County, Nevada from 1962 to 1969. Federal judicial service George was a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Nevada from 1974 to 1984, serving on the Ninth Circuit United States Bankruptcy Appellate Panels from 1980 to 1984.
