Jimmie V. Reyna

Jimmie V. Reyna (born November 11, 1952) is an American lawyer, former president of the Hispanic National Bar Association, and a United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Reyna's appointment to the federal bench had two historical distinctions: he became both the first Latino and first international trade practitioner to be appointed to the Federal Circuit. Early life and education Jimmie Reyna was born on November 11, 1952, in Tucumcari, New Mexico to Julian Calano Reyna and Consuelo Valdenebro Reyna, who were Baptist missionaries. He grew up in Clovis, New Mexico and graduated as valedictorian of his high school class. He was also senior class president, a letterman, and participated in the speech and drama clubs. Throughout high school, Reyna held after-school jobs and worked at night with his father, cleaning offices. Reyna received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Rochester in 1975 and his Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1978.
