XPeng Robotics Valued at $6.3B on $900M Funding
XPeng’s robotics unit, Dogotix, has secured about $900 million in a funding round that values the unit at more than $6 billion post-money, making it the largest single private financing in China’s embodied AI sector to date. The round, led by IDG Capital with participation from Gaorong Ventures and strategic support from Tencent and Alibaba, will support hardware and software R&D, data generation, and mass-production facilities as XPeng expands globally. XPeng’s chief executive He Xiaopeng has indicated the humanoid robot XPENG IRON could enter mass production by the end of 2026, with initial deployments at XPeng’s stores and campuses and commercial launches planned for 2027 in China and overseas. The deal also involves carving out Dogotix as a standalone entity with a pre-money valuation around $5 billion, potentially rising to about $6.3 billion post-money depending on incentive plan utilization, while XPeng retains control of the unit. Executives and other insiders are participating in the financing, with a structure that includes potential additional warrants and dilution for XPeng shareholders as Dogotix grows. Overall, the funding underscores XPeng’s strategy to accelerate its AI-powered robotics push through external capital and strategic partners while maintaining operator control over the robotics business.
