Whitecaps acquire 18-year-old Fotsing from Vancouver FC

The Vancouver Whitecaps have acquired 18-year-old Canadian midfielder Emrick Fotsing from Vancouver FC, with a contract through the 2029-30 MLS season and an option for 2030-31, and he will join the Whitecaps after a loan back to Vancouver FC for the remainder of the 2026 CPL season. He is a former CF Montréal Academy product who has represented Canada at the U-20 level, co-captained at the 2026 CONCACAF U-20 Championship, and has four goals in 39 CPL appearances. The transfer, reportedly valued at $300,000–$400,000 with a 20% sell-on clause, marks what could be the largest move in Vancouver FC’s history and the second-largest in CPL history. Fotsing will rehabilitate from a hip injury sustained while with Canada’s U-20 team before reporting to the Whitecaps for the 2027 MLS sprint season.
