Vladimir Guerrero Jr Activated from Concussion List
The Toronto Blue Jays activated Vladimir Guerrero Jr. from the seven-day concussion injured list ahead of their game against the New York Yankees, following clearance from concussion protocols and a rehab appearance for the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays. Guerrero, who had missed time with concussion symptoms after colliding with Yankees infielder George Lombard Jr., returned to the active roster while Davis Schneider was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo to make room. He has been playing through back and hamstring issues this season and is batting .263 with seven home runs, all of them on the road, and a .693 OPS over 115 games. Manager John Schneider reiterated that Guerrero remains one of the team's best players and that the priority is him getting back to his normal form and contributing with hard contact and solid defense. Guerrero’s activation follows a 1-for-1 tune-up game in which he walked twice, scored a run, and drove in an RBI, after passing all required testing. The roster move comes as Toronto eyes a push for a postseason spot, with the club four games under .500 and one and a half games back of a wild-card berth.
