US Open prize pool to hit record $108M
The US Open’s prize purse will total a record $108 million, a 20% increase from last year and 44% from 2024. The singles champions will earn a historic $5.5 million, with the 128-player main-draw entry paying a first-round prize of $140,000—the largest in tennis history. Other top prizes include $780,000 for quarterfinalists, $1.45 million for semifinalists, and $2.8 million for the runners-up, while doubles winners share $1 million per winning team and runners-up receive $500,000; wheelchair singles winners get $104,000. The USTA also announced a new $2 million player support program, split evenly between men’s and women’s players to augment existing pensions. CEO Craig Tiley called the package a significant first step in a multi-year investment in athletes, noting the Grand Slam Player Council’s involvement to guide revenue and input from players. These figures and initiatives reflect a broader push to elevate compensation across the Grand Slams.
