Kyrgios Provisional Suspension for Cocaine Metabolite
Former Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios has been provisionally suspended from tennis after testing positive for a cocaine metabolite at the Mallorca Open in June, with ITIA confirming the result and stating the suspension took effect on August 4. He announced the failure on Instagram, apologized to fans, sponsors and family, and said injuries have taken a toll as he nears the end of his career. He retains the right to appeal the provisional suspension, though no appeal has been filed, and his ban bars him from playing, coaching, or attending ATP, WTA, and Grand Slam events. The ITIA will continue to prosecute the case as it progresses through the sanctions process.
