UAE intercepts drone over territorial waters from Iran
The UAE Ministry of Defence said its air forces intercepted and addressed a drone approaching from Iran over the country’s territorial waters, with the force on high alert and air defenses monitoring the airspace. The country urged the public to rely on official sources for information as authorities coordinate a unified response to the incident. Iran’s army subsequently claimed in a separate statement that it had launched dozens of attack drones and missiles in retaliation for recent attacks on its forces, targeting the Al Minhad base in the UAE and warning of continuing actions to safeguard Iran’s security interests. IRGC forces also described retaliatory strikes against US positions in the region, including actions in Jordan, as part of a broader response to what Iran calls aggression. The episode unfolds amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing exchanges between Iran and Western-aligned forces, with Tehran emphasizing its resolve to defend Straits of Hormuz security. Overall, multiple UAE statements confirm interception of a drone from Iran, while Iran’s own statements frame it within broader retaliatory actions and regional security dynamics.
