Two Fitchburg men arrested for UW–Madison pier sexual assault
Two men from Fitchburg, ages 31 and 27, were arrested after a sexual assault on the Goodspeed Family Pier near UW-Madison’s Alumni Park early Saturday morning. Police say the victim met the suspects at a bar earlier, and the assault occurred as the victim tried to leave the pier. The suspects, who are not affiliated with UW-Madison, are facing tentative charges of second-degree sexual assault with force, along with allegations of strangulation and suffocation, battery, and false imprisonment. Both were taken into Dane County Jail, and the Dane County District Attorney’s Office will review the case. UW-Madison police, along with other local agencies, are coordinating on the investigation, which remains under review and investigation as charges are prepared. No formal charges had been filed at the time of the reports, and investigators indicated the victims and suspects were not university affiliates.
