Three Named 2026 Ramon Magsaysay Awardees
The Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation announced three recipients for 2026: Tommy Koh, Runa Khan, and Bo Kyi, recognizing diplomacy, humanitarian work, and human rights advocacy. Koh, a Singaporean diplomat and former member of Singapore’s foreign service, is lauded for leading international diplomacy and for negotiating the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. Khan, founder of Friendship, is celebrated for delivering healthcare, education and livelihoods to remote and climate-vulnerable Bangladeshi communities. Bo Kyi, a Myanmar human rights defender, is honored for advocacy on political prisoners' rights and accountability for abuses. The awards are described as Asia’s premier prize, with the 68th ceremony set for November 15, 2026, in Manila. The announcements highlight how the laureates’ work spans international law, development, and human rights, illustrating a shared commitment to dialogue and justice.
