Staley Confirms Sharing JPMorgan Secrets With Epstein

New congressional transcripts reveal former JPMorgan Chase executive Jes Staley acknowledged repeatedly sharing confidential and market-sensitive JPMorgan information with Jeffrey Epstein, including details of the Federal Reserve communications during the 2008 crisis and other sensitive data, as part of the House Oversight Committee's Epstein investigation. He also disclosed that he was named a trustee of Epstein's estate at one point, and he described a long-running professional relationship with Epstein despite claims of his crimes. In his testimony, Staley defended his right to share information he deemed appropriate and noted JPMorgan’s concerns about Epstein’s cash withdrawals and his designation as a high-risk client. The committee also surfaced that Staley reportedly had regular communications with Epstein, with officials noting hundreds to thousands of messages exchanged during the period. Separately, Staley testified about a consensual sexual encounter with Epstein’s assistant, described in raw terms that he said occurred years ago, while continuing to deny any wrongdoing by Epstein. JPMorgan declined to comment on the testimony, and Staley’s lawyers did not immediately respond to requests for comment, as he moved on from Barclays after leading the bank’s private and asset-management units.
