Imposters at Boise Arrested in $1.3M Dating Scam

Federal authorities charged Daejon Love and Taylor Chan with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud after accusing them of running a dating-app scam that defrauded at least 26 women out of about $1.3 million across Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and California over more than four years. Love allegedly posed as a San Francisco 49ers player and a wealthy real estate investor, while Chan acted as his supposed financial adviser, using fictitious personas and staged investments to gain victims’ trust. The scheme included romantic relationships, three-way FaceTime calls showing fake investment gains, and even references to a costly NFL lifestyle to convince victims of authenticity. Authorities say the pair exploited multiple identities, including Jordan Love and Jon Love, and even used Google AI overview results to bolster their cover. One alleged victim has publicly claimed she remained involved with Love up to his Aug. 24 arrest at Boise Airport, showing messages and receipts as part of her account. Prosecutors believe there are more victims beyond the identified 26, and the investigation is ongoing.
