Flanagan Wins Minnesota Democratic Senate Primary
Peggy Flanagan won the Minnesota Democratic U.S. Senate primary, narrowly defeating Angie Craig. Flanagan ran on Medicare for All, expanding Social Security, and curbing corporate influence, with support from progressive figures like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. She defeated a race heavily funded by outside groups that spent over $20 million in Craig’s favor and received endorsements from Sen. Tina Smith and other progressives. Michele Tafoya won the Republican Senate nomination, setting up a November clash with Flanagan. In other high-profile results, Rep. Ilhan Omar easily won Minnesota’s 5th District Democratic primary, underscoring ongoing urban-progressive strength in the state.
